Phases of the Treatment
There are three phases to stem cell therapy: extraction, separation, and treatment.
The extraction process should be quick and virtually painless
After a consultation with Dr Sami, the first step to the stem cell therapy process is extraction of the adipose (fat). At Brisbane Regeneration we use advanced technology known as cell harvesting (liposuction), for the extraction procedure. This step is efficient and you will feel practically no pain. In order to extract the required cells, we will perform a small liposuction procedure on an area of the body with apidose (fat) tissue. We procure the cells from this tissue as it is the richest source of stem cells available within the body. This part of the procedure will be performed under local anaesthetic so that you are comfortable during the treatment. We will then ‘treat’ the cells using our advanced technology
The next step involves treating the cells with a technology called Ultrasonic Cavitation Separation to purify and refine the valuable regenerative cells. This advanced technology does not require any added chemicals or enzymes during the ultrasonic cavitation process, which is another reason it is so effective. We treat the harvested cells with Ultrasonic Cavitation Separation to define the fat cells and connecting collagen from the vital purified cells, progenitor, and other immune modulating cells, which will later be re-used. The separation process creates the stromal cells or otherwise known as Stromal Vascular Fraction (SVF) cells. Once the SVF cells are created, they are almost ready to be re-inserted to the affected area.
The quality of the stromal cells need to be tested before re-insertion
Dr Sami will use a device called a flow cytometer to examine the quality of the stromal cells, their count, and viability. The flow cytometer is essential to create the optimal formulation and dosage of stem cell products for procedure. The cell numbers are then recorded to determine the chances of a successful treatment. Brisbane Regeneration are constantly analysing results and data to better their knowledge in stem cell therapy, and improve future procedures.
We will reinject these regenerative cells to renew function and vitality
The final stage of your initial treatment will be the reinjection of the stromal cells. These are reinjected into the affected area by your doctor so that the regenerative process can begin restoring the damaged tissue and bone. In the ensuing weeks you should experience an improvement in the function of your joint and a reduction in the amount of pain.
